September 7 marks the 376th anniversary of Boston's creation as a formal political entity. In 1630, the town of Trimountaine was renamed Boston and declared the capital of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Boston Charter Day - an annual celebration of Boston's founding - highlights the civic spirit, longstanding institutions, and first-class cultural and intellectual life in Boston. 2006 Charter Day Events are coordinated by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons, Inc.

Charter Day Sabbath Gathering Sponsored by The First Church in Boston & the Partnership of the Historic Bostons An Interdenominational Service at Boston's oldest religious institution established in 1630. Readings and psalm singing of the Puritans and recollections from the founders’ church of St. Botolph in Boston, Lincolnshire. From John Cotton’s pulpit in Boston, Old England, to The First Church in Boston, New England, The Reverend Robin Whitehead, Vicar of St. Botolph’s Church, will address the gathering.

Boston Founders Trail Walking Tour
Sponsored by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons
The Boston Founders Trail Walking Tour has been created by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons, a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the historical links between Boston, Massachusetts and Boston, Lincolnshire in England. Walkers will get an historical view of the small town founded on the edge of the wilderness in 1630. The tour, which runs for two hours, is guided by Professor Will Holton and Stephen Busby. Professor Holton of Northeastern University is the President of The Partnership of the Historic Bostons. Steve Busby has been a professional tour guide in Boston since 1993 and is the Tour Manager for the Boston Stock Exchange.
