A special exhibition prepared by The Partnership of the Historic Bostons, Inc. for the people of today’s Boston as part of the 375th anniversary celebration of the unique historical connections and shared legacies between Boston, Lincolnshire, England, founded in 1086, and Boston, Massachusetts Bay, founded in 1630. It provides insight into the 17th century cultural institutions that were challenged in a New World setting. The presentation expands and deepens knowledge of life and times in the Massachusetts Bay area during our country’s early formative years.

Photographs of 17th century public buildings, homes, and country parish churches of England and their counterparts in the Massachusetts Bay Colony; maps of the routes followed by those who migrated across the Atlantic to the New World; portraits of the men and women of the founding generation; facsimiles of their precious books and the significant documents, including the charter granted by King Charles I of England in 1629 that enabled them to establish a permanent settlement and an enduring form of government, are all attractively and clearly presented and identified.
